A day in Bukit Broga, Semyniah and Malacca, Malaysia

9 April 2016

Another friend’s saying goodbye to Singapore. This hike was to celebrate this. Of course, another person is going hence, I couldn’t make myself decide whether to be happy for him or to be sad for myself for not being as courageous like him.

Anyway, we all went on a rented van to Semenyih, Malaysia, where the base of Bukit Broga is. We started climbing at about 5am to reach its 3 peaks before sunrise. For me, the hike was pretty easy, but of course, do not forget to pace yourself properly so that you can climb up comfortably. The only challenge was the haze. It made my throat very dry. Instead of clouds covering the birds eye view of the city lights, it was that notorious haze.

Luckily, despite it, we were still able to catch a glimpse of the sun rising above the opposite mountains/hills. My favourite part was when we had to use rope to ascend and descend. I was so thankful that the local government decided to install them. It was helpful, a lot easier and safer.

Half of us still wanted to go on hiking to Tok Wan but due to lack of time, we decided just to head back.

After the hike, we went to Malacca for a half-day city tour and massage. I have been there maybe, a decade ago, so I couldn’t really remember much. Except for that pink church, everything else looked new to me. We visited the Jonker walk , where we had our lunch and the St. Paul’s Ruins too. We didn’t really go for more.

After the short walking tour, we went for massage and then, headed back home.

Hi! I’m keen to visit Bukit Bronga from Singapore too but not too sure of the transport. Possible to provide details about your rented van? TIA!
