14km and 9 obstacles
The first time I joined this race was 2 years ago. That year, I was supposed to run with my friend, R but he decided not to. I forgot the reason. Anyway, he redeemed himself by racing with me today. It was lonely to do obstacles alone. I needed some pushing especially to those obstacles that needed plenty of arm strength. Running, since this was just for fun, I decided to follow his pace.
Same as two years ago, I wasn’t able to do 1.5 obstacles, the swinging fortune and half of the lateral move. Swinging fortune was unlike the normal monkey bars. It was zigzagged and it was so slippery due to sweat. I attempted twice but I was unsuccessful.
I’ve always feared parallel bars. I practiced for it a couple of times in an outdoor gym near our place and I could do it if the bars are steady. So same as two years ago, the bars they used on this race were still shaky, hence it was quite difficult for me to stabilize my shoulders and core in one place, my body was just all over the place. For fun, I just decided to go and try the second part despite time has already been deducted because I wasn’t able to do the first part, and second part was alright.
Everything went well until the last part. The last obstacle was easy except that the queue was agonizing. It felt like the queue was also an obstacle in the first place, testing only our patience and endurance for heat! It felt like the end was so near yet so far. I loved the rope swinging, though.
Over all, it was a fun race…oh, the idea of having food after the race has always been a plus point, whatever the food is. 😉
