As I open my eyes wide,

I know I am up for another chance.

Chance to grow, chance to change,

Chance to dance my life away.

As I sit upright at the edge of my bed,

Stretch my arm and open my mouth yawning,

I know I am free, and unrestricted

To receive more graces.

I know I am capable,

To be an angel to others,

So they can receive blessings too.

As I stand on my forefeet, firmly unto the floor,

I know I am ready, to fly,

To run and to embrace this brand new day.

As the warm water from the shower

Touches my lethargic skin,

I know I am blessed.

For others do not even have this necessity.

As the soft towel slides into my supple skin,

I know I am fortunate,

For these life’s comforts I always have.

As I savour my delicious breakfast,

I know my life is abundant and,

I do not have to worry.

As the sun rises and its rays kisses my face,

I know, from the bottom

Of my sometimes sceptical heart,

That I should be thankful!

That I should be grateful.

Because despite our world’s atrocities,

I am still alive, resilient and able,

To stand back up each and every mornings.
