Last night went differently for me. Firstly, we had dinner at Baja Fresh, a Mexican fast food chain. (http://www.bajafresh.com/) I orderd Ultimo, Fajitas. It was charbroiled chicken, pork carnitas, and charbroiled steak, shrimp with veggies, rice, freshly simmered black or pinto beans*, handmade guacamole, Pico de Gallo, sour cream and corn or flour tortillas. I chose grande instead of regular just because I was starving. Aside form that, the celebrants, M and L, ordered Nachos, tortilla chips and 2 pitchers of margarita.
I finished 1 and a half glasses of margarita and was able to finish my entire order, which ,I think, could feed 2 people. They played trivia games and since I’m not very good with trivias, I felt sleepy while they were all playing it.
I know I was already feeling the urge to doze off but N and Y forced me to join them hang out some where. They said I promised I would. Thus, I felt like I didn’t have much of a choice so, after dinner, we went to this Irish bar Mulligan’s (http://www.mulliganspubs.com/cannery)
at Clarke Quay where I had my first taste of Irish Coffee, a shooter mix of Bailey’s , kahlua and jameson. Initial taste was bitter, followed by mocha / chocolate (couldn’t really tell), with an after taste of sweetness. It was nice though, I wouldn’t mind having few more of this, if only it was cheaper.
We waited a while for the band to start playing but unfortunately, we got bored waiting. We just decided to move ahead and change location. We went to this Cuban Bar, Cuba Libre. (http://www.cubalibre.com.sg/) We had to order one drink to enter. I ordered Kronenberg 1664 Blanc and danced with music mix of latin dances like salsa, reggaetton up until midnight. Wasn’t able to finish my drink though, I let N finish it.
As I was wondering and looking at people in Clarke Quay I couldn’t help but wonder. How can some people enjoy daily or weekly hanging out in noisy places like this? Girls prepare themselves by choosing the most uncomfortable attires they have (short clothes, very high heeled shoes) and then putting on layers and layers of gunk on their faces. Guys, just act cool and flirt around with girls endlessly.
After a tiring night of partying, they’ll all go back to their own homes or for some, some stranger’s home, couldn’t remember what exactly happened the night before. Some may have to go to police stations as either a victim or suspect of an unlawful behavior or worst, some end up dead.
How could they even converse in places as loud as these? I myself felt like “I am not me” hanging out there. Its another side of me and I’m thankful because it only has to come out once in a while. I don’t think I can handle a weekly activity like this.
I enjoyed my friends’ company but I’d still prefer nature tripping. No need to act and pretend you’re comfortable and happy. No need to put on too much gunk. Nature wouldn’t care what I wear, how I look and how I smell like….Hay…
maybe, I am just really getting older..fun for me is different..=b
